Relationships can be very complicated. Developing good communication skills is an essential component in developing healthy relational interactions. The inability to communicate effectively with spouses, partners, friends or colleagues often results in frustrating and negative relationship experiences. It is very easy to veer off-track in our relationships because of unrealistic expectations, poor interactional skills and assumptions about what the other person is thinking or feeling.

Marital conflict and discord is one of the most stressful life experiences that people report. It often feels as if the rug is being pulled out from under you. Trust and intimacy issues generate feelings that are confusing and cause you to feel hurt, sad, angry or fearful that the marriage won't survive. Every marriage goes through periods of strain. Much of this is normal relationship stress but in the moment, it can feel quite disconcerting. Some relationship conflicts, however, do need some intervention.

I teach people how to communicate, how to listen and how to respond appropriately. You will learn how to negotiate, and how to feel safer in your relationships. Rather than an "I win, you lose" scenario, you will understand more clearly how to reach a "We both get some of what we need and feel good about this" outcome. You will learn anger management and conflict resolution skills. Together we will explore the old hurts and resentments that show up in your present day relationships. You will finally be able to let down the walls that you've erected to protect yourself but which really isolate you, and experience real connection with partners, family, friends and co-workers. You will have the skills to communicate effectively and will be able to build strong and successful relationships that endure. Solid relationships are really about respect, trust, and flexibility. The work we do will enable you to deepen all your relationships.
