Everyone experiences some level of emotional stress or distress. Until you can verbalize your discomfort in a way that brings about emotional healing, you will continue to carry these emotional places of distress inside your body. Stress affects us physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and the effects are cumulative. As a result, fear, shame, anger, anxiety and all the issues and conflicts you are connected to impact your sense of well being. Unless you release the unhealthy connections you carry, they will find alternative pathways though your body, which may result in a physical illness or may contribute to an already existing condition. Physical responses to stress include headaches, fatigue, muscle spasms, back pain and chronic pain.
The mind and the body are connected. When one part of the body is affected, the whole body is involved in some way. When you are depressed, your immune system may become compromised. When you are anxious, your body is in a fight or flight mode. Coping with depression and stress may involve learning tools for stress reduction so that you don't feel so overwhelmed by life's dilemmas and can manage your life more effectively.
